Cracc Down On The CRIPS? . . . Awww Cuzz !
More than 45 people had been arrested by 7 a.m. Thursday in a major gang crackdown in South LA.
Hundreds of police officers and federal agents served warrants on the Rolling 40s. The gang has a "vice grip" on the neighborhood, according to police.
Authorities said the operation involves about 1,100 law enforcement agents. They plan to serve warrants for 75 individuals.
Authorities set up a booking area in a parking lot in Exposition Park.
"They have a vise grip on the neighborhood, and we are going to release that grip this morning," LAPD Deputy Chief Kirk Albanese said.
Neighborhoods in which the warrants were served included Crenshaw, Jefferson Park, West Adams, Baldwin Village, University Park, Athens Park, Gramercy Park and Hyde Park.
Families get to raise their children, send the kids to school, without as much fear involving this particular street gang. ... The communities are held hostage, in a sense," Albanese said.
The FBI's Laura Eimiller said more than 500 people have been arrested since May in 10 Southern California anti-gang sweeps.
The sweep occurred during nationwide raids against a Mexico-based drug cartel. Eimiller said the LA raids are not related.

Supreme has launched a feature on their website that chronicles their entire sneaker history which runs from 1996 through 2009. Included in the feature are their numerous collaborations with Nike SB, Vans, Timberland, and more. Supreme gained a lot of notoriety for helping launch Nike SB amongst skateboarders across the world when they first launched the Nike SB x Supreme Dunk Low Pro’s in 2002, since then the New York based brand has gone onto collaborate with Nike SB on a number of other models including the Dunk High SB, Blazer SB, Delta Force 3/4 SB, Trainer TW 2, and most recently the Bruin. While their Nike SB collaborations have garnered the most attention, Supreme has also worked on a number of different projects with Vans over the years. Supra has just begun to roll out their holiday 2009 lineup. Just released are: TK Society, Skytop, Vaider, and Suprano High, each in two different color ways. The TK Society comes in all black suede as well as burgundy leather. The Skytops are both full leather upper and come in red/black, and black/sky blue. The Vaider model has been released in a black/red colorway with a suede and patent leather upper while the black/sky blue version are a predominantly leather upper with suede heel accents. Last but not least the Supra Suprano has dropped with a grey/black color scheme with small red accents and a canvas and leather upper, alongside another version with a suede and leather upper in a bright purple with a bright green outsole accent. All colorways are available now online

It appears that Jordan Brand will really be forcing us to make some tough decisions in 2010 thanks to all the tempting releases in store. With numerous Retro models making their way back in a bunch of colorways, we all have plenty of good reason to stash some money aside or get a second job. Above are two more additions to the 2010 Air Jordan line-up that are going to be pretty hard to pass up for most Air Jordan collectors. The Infrared Air Jordan VI is pretty much a no-brainer, especially because, unlike the Black version which made the switch to suede, this pair sticks with the original White leather. Joining the Infrared VI’s will be another new Spiz’ike this time decked out in a “Grape” color scheme, which needless to say is always a fan favorite with most sneakerheads. No word yet on specific release info, but stay tuned for further details. Via Opium.

ike seems to have discovered a secret that one of their formerly high volume distributors, Urban Outfitters picked up on: carefully combining seemingly clashing colours results in a kitschy, retro vibe. UO has a large variety of furniture to fit this mold and now Nike has dropped the Air Flight Condor in a colour perfectly befitting its nu-retro looks. New to its hightop shape, the Condor goes with an unorthodox mix of greys, browns, yellows/greens and blues. There’s also just a touch of Hufquake-like tonal brown print on the toe and heel and you can cop them today from 95Soleman on eBay.

If this is a race, we have a leader out the gate. The Nike East vs. West Rivals Pack may have expanded to include more territory, but let’s not forget about the foundation of this collective theme.
